2. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar at Fastlane 2016

After losing his WWE title to Triple H at the Royal Rumble 2016, Roman Reigns had one second chance to head to the main event of WrestleMania 32. He had to defeat Brock Lesnar and his Shield Brethren Dean Ambrose in a Triple Threat match. The winner would go on to face Triple H at WrestleMania for the WWE title.

Though the match was about Roman Reigns’s struggle to reach the top against the authority, the real star of the match was Dean Ambrose. Being the work horse that he is, Ambrose carried the match alongside two other heavy weights who had the size and strength advantage over him. However, the gutsy Lunatic Fringe showed heart and determination. But in the end he fell short. The bout lead to Ambrose’s WrestleMania showing with Lesnar, which could have been a classic had Lesnar been willing to work a little harder.

This match however, was different. The chemistry between Reigns and Ambrose and the animosity between the three participants made for some compelling elements. On more than one occasion, the Shield brothers ganged up on Lesnar, eliminating him from the equation.

The brothers then fought each other neck and neck until Reigns finally took down Ambrose to seal his place at WrestleMania. Years later, when the WWE universe talks about this match, they will remember it as a night where Ambrose showed his persona. He was so hot at the moment that at Roadblock PPV in the next month, he challenged Triple H and nearly defeated the Cerebral Assassin.
