WWE Raw: Braun Strowman’s Road To WrestleMania Has A Twist

Braun Strowman’s road to WrestleMania on WWE Raw just got monumental thanks to the big man potentially creating history this year.

The WrestleMania season is in full swing all over the WWE. Superstars are fighting for a place in the card. Even a 16-time World Champion like John Cena has been seen trying all sorts of ways to get on the card this year, which eventually lead to a scathing promo against the Undertaker last night on Raw. You can imagine how hard it would be for any other star to make it to this year’s card. Such is the star-studded nature of the event this year.

Last week, in my burning questions post, I had asked what would the Road to WrestleMania be for Strowman and Elias after their Symphony of Destruction match. It seems this week, Strowman may have found an answer for himself. By chance or by fate, Elias may or may not be a part of that too. In a backstage segment, Strowman was shown as visibly upset with the fact that he did not have a match for WrestleMania, despite wrecking havoc on Raw for well over a year.

The Monster Among Men promised to unleash hell on Earth until he had a spot on this year’s card. If I were Kurt Angle, at this moment I literally would have hit the panic button. First there is all the ongoing issue with Triple H and Stephanie and having to fight alongside Ronda Rousey while carrying out the PR works for WrestleMania. Then on Monday night, there was all the issue with Roman Reigns. Now on top of that you have the Monster Among Men threatening the entire locker room.

Luckily for Angle, Strowman’s plans did not involve showing up at random intervals to hurt superstars. Instead, he would declare himself as an entrant in the tag team battle royale match which would determine the number one contenders for the tag titles. Needless to say, Strowman obliterated the competition and won the whole thing.

What happens from now on will be more exciting than this sudden development. Will Strowman’s victory count? Is he going to the challenge the Bar on his own? How will that pan out? From the Big Show to Kane, no big man has ever held the tag titles on his own. If Strowman is indeed going to do this, it will be historic. Moreover, it will be another accomplishment in his monstrous resume of inhuman feats.

But is that really a good idea? Because, from where I stand, if Strowman is going to WrestleMania, he needs to walk away with a win. But beating the tag champs with a two on one disadvantage is a bad idea. It makes the entire tag division look bad.

Instead how about Angle insist that Strowman has to find a tag team partner to be able to challenge the Bar? But who will be sane enough to team up with the Monster Among Men? James Ellsworth? Michael Cole? Or how about someone well-versed in the art of music and theatricals? In comes Elias, who is the best heel on Monday nights right after the Miz. The Sinister Songster can easily deduce that this will be the easiest way to grab some gold, by pretending to be Strowman’s friend and tag team partner. He could continue to be the heel and still make this work.

Elias and Strowman has crossed paths far too many times. Now seems like a good idea to pair these two men. Their chemistry and the complementing nature of their characters will make up for one entertaining tag team. It’s not the smartest of booking ideas and nor is it an innovative idea. This will merely be a play on Team Hell No if anything. Even so, Strowman and Elias are so entertaining and oozing with charisma that the crowd will buy into this act without any second thoughts.

They both have their own motives to team up. Elias wants to make use of this opportunity to win a title for himself. As a bonus, he gets to be on the card for WrestleMania this year. Strowman on the other hand will fare much better here than competing for the IC title or in the Andre the Giant battle royale.
