2. Carmella vs. Naomi
It’s been nearly a full year since the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match and despite the WWE messing up the first one, the winner remained the same with Carmella emerging victorious. But since then, The Queen Of Stanton Island hasn’t done much to show she can successfully cash in her contract.
Maybe the point is to make fans forget about her so she can catch a champion by surprise, but Carmella hasn’t had any direction over the past few months. She has had more direction lately, albeit thrown together randomly, while butting heads with Naomi and Becky Lynch with her and Natalya defeating them at Fastlane.
Last night saw Carmella battle Naomi in one-on-one action that did feature some good action, but it was entirely too short to give these women a chance to succeed. The match didn’t even reach three full minutes as Miss Money in the Bank defeated Naomi to get some much-needed momentum to go along with her tag team win at Fastlane.
The WWE would be smarter to give Carmella some momentum in proving she is more than capable of cashing in her contract successfully. Maybe that’s what’s going on now, but while it’s good to see her getting wins, giving her a win in a less than three-minute match seems a bit ridiculous.
Miss Money in the Bank has a destiny for gold, but she deserves more than a two-plus minute match to show she is capable of making history.
