12. Chris Jericho vs. Edge: WrestleMania 26
One of the most forgotten rivalries in WWE history took place due to an unforeseen reason. Edge and Chris Jericho were tag team champion partners in mid-2009, but Edge suffered an injury and was sidelined for several months to abruptly end his run with Y2J.
In the time Edge was gone, Jericho teamed with The Big Show and made several negative remarks towards The Rated-R Superstar. But when Edge surprisingly returned and won the 2010 Royal Rumble, his path was set to cross with Jericho, who won the World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber in February.
These two former tag team partners turned bitter enemies were bound for a WrestleMania 26 showdown in 2010 and despite the match going widely forgotten now, it was a very good battle with a lot of great action and in-ring psychology. There were several impressive counters in this match as well, but towards the end, Y2J’s heelish ways took over when he hit Edge with the world title belt when the ref was distracted.
This didn’t put Edge down for good, but after a codebreaker, Jericho successfully retained his title before Edge got the last laugh and put Jericho through an announce table. It seemed like Edge should have won this match and if he would have won the match, it probably would have ended up higher on this list. It didn’t help that Jericho lost his title to Jack Swagger on the first episode of SmackDown following the show after Swagger cashed in Money in the Bank.
Y2J vs. The Rated-R Superstar at WrestleMania 26 didn’t get the headlines from a show that featured Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker, but it does get a headline as an all-time underrated WrestleMania match.
