Matt Sydal’s first offense with his Spiritual Advisor
Matt Sydal finally revealed his spiritual adviser Josh Matthews last week. This was a huge disappointment considering this adviser lead him to both the X-Division and Grand Championships. Sydal battles Rohit Raju who won Global Forged last year but really hasn’t gotten his legs under him yet. Tonight will be the first test for Sydal with Matthews physically by his side as he defends the X-Division Championship.
This match starts slowly for the two speedsters but Sydal is able to take the early advantage. Raju would fight back but his offense would be short lived. Sydal would begin to change pace as he first sped things up then would wear down the underdog challenger. This slow pace is a little different from what we are used to seeing from Matt Sydal.
Raju finds his way back into this match but Sydal would get back to his old ways. Sydal seemed more comfortable when he wrestled his normal style. Oddly enough, Raju had some nice offense well at least some offensive time in this match. He’s a guy they should use more often but I’m not sure if Impact will. This included a nice fast paced flurry nearing the end of the match. Sydal sets up his match ending Shooting Star Press to retain the X-Division Championship. Sydal’s offense didn’t change substantially in this match which could develop over the coming weeks.
