With Daniel Bryan’s in-ring return imminent, a feud between him and The Miz seems inevitable. WWE should take these steps to ensure its success.

When SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan announced his return to in-ring action last Tuesday, he opened to door to a nearly endless amount of dream matches and feuds that could take up the next several years. Imagine Bryan facing A.J. Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar (if he re-signs) in a WWE ring. Sounds fantastic, doesn’t it?

Before those matches can occur, Bryan will likely team with SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon to face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania. Those other potential clashes are tantalizing to any fan, but WWE needs to schedule a program with one particular wrestler before getting to those dream bouts: current Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

My colleague Raphael Garcia earmarked Bryan vs. Miz as a feud that must happen in the near future, and I agree. WWE owes it to their fans to pay this feud off after devoting so much time to it on SmackDown in 2016 (and keeping the issue alive in 2017).

Bryan and Miz are like Batman and the Joker, Superman and Lex Luthor, or Jerry Seinfeld and Newman. They were put on this earth to wrestle one another. Bryan and Miz’s obvious personality contrasts are key ingredients to an easy-to-script rivalry. In particular, WWE needs to do these three things to make this feud successful.
