WWE WrestleMania 34: Multi-Person Matches A Sign Of Prospering Talent

WWE WrestleMania 34’s multi-person matches will be the best platform to showcase all of WWE’s top talents.

Originally, WrestleMania was basically the finale to a year in pro wrestling where longterm storylines between two feuding Superstars would finally get their big blow off match. We would maybe see four hours of action with about eight to twelve matches in the first renditions of the Showcase of the Immortals.

Nowadays, WrestleMania is an all day event. If you include the pre show, WrestleMania 33’s thirteen matches forced the event to run for over seven hours. And with more matches on the card, WrestleMania 34 is looking to surpass that this year.

Despite WrestleMania 34 being an almost eight hour event with fourteen matches (if you include Undertaker vs. Cena), WWE STILL can’t fit all of their top stars into singles’ feuds for the Grandest Stage.

This is why six of the twelve non-battle royal matches have more than two people competing in them. This is a testament to the rising popularity of so many Superstars that were not scheduled for a singles’ feud but deserved more than a spot in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal.

Look at The Usos. This is a team that had not seen the ‘Mania main card in the nine years they have been on the roster despite being champions during last year’s WrestleMania. Their stellar matches and developed characters, however, forced them into a prominent spot against The New Day and Bludgeon Brothers this year.

Also, top stars like Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor had no direction heading into ‘Mania but couldn’t be left off the card (unless WWE wants fans to burn the world to the ground), so now they are in the same match competing for The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship.

Then, we have the United States Championship match, which was already a multi-man match, got Rusev added to it. despite WWE having no plans for the Bulgarian, his merch sales and popularity forced WWE to include him in the match before we saw a riot.

Similar in popularity to Rusev is Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men, despite being WWE’s most over act, looked to be matchless at ‘Mania, but now he (and possibly a partner) is competing for the Raw Tag Team Championships

That isn’t the only tag match on the show, either. Rather than squeezing one match out of each part timer like WWE usually does, they had to move them to tag matches in order to make room for other full time talent. So, we have Kurt Angle, Stephanie McMahon, Ronda Rousey, and Triple H all in one match while Daniel Bryan, Shane McMahon, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn are in another.

All of these multi-man matches allow for both mainstream stars and internet darlings to have their moment at WrestleMania. Also, this leaves room for the one on one meaningful feuds like Styles vs. Nakamura, Reigns vs. Lesnar, and Charlotte vs. Asuka to take place without interference from others.

Next: WrestleMania is in need of personal issues

WWE fans may always try to find something about the product to complain about, but if WrestleMania 34 is any indication, WWE’s overflowing amount of talent and true Superstars is something that should be universally praised.
