3. Final Encounter Helps Mixed Tag Team Match’s Momentum
The in-ring debut of Ronda Rousey will take place at WrestleMania 34 in one of the most star-studded matches at the show. However, last night was all about getting a leg-up on the competition with WrestleMania 34 just days away.
Last night served as the final encounter between Rousey and Kurt Angle and Triple H and Stephanie McMahon before their mixed tag team match on Sunday. And as all formal encounters seemingly do, things broke down towards the end that gave momentum to the WWE’s power couple.
It started as a back and forth jawing session between the two with a few questions thrown in. It was probably Rousey’s best mic work since joining the WWE as well, but then towards the end when a photo op was taking place, things broke down in a predictably physical way when Triple H hit Angle in the back with the microphone.
Rousey responded by choking The Game, but Stephanie caught her by surprise and slammed her through a table in the ring. Who would have ever thought a few years ago that we would see Stephanie slam Rousey through a table? It was a positive way to wrap up the building of the feud heading into WrestleMania 34 and only further says that Rousey and Angle will win.
In what is arguably one of the biggest mixed tag team matches in WWE history, last night’s final encounter was a positive way to head into the showcase of the immortals.
