Buddy Murphy Vs Kalisto

Result: Buddy Murphy Wins With Murphy’s Law

Grade: B

The storyline for this match was a continuation of last week’s fatal 4-way match, which saw Buddy Murphy defeated Kalisto, TJP and Akira Tozawa to become the number 1 contender for after WrestleMania.

The two men put on a great encounter, one which began slowly but then turned into a fast-paced series of exchanges leading to the finish. Both men came out of this match looking good, especially Murphy, who picked up the victory with his impressive Murphy’s Law finisher.

Murphy has been a great addition to the Cruiserweight division, and he will no doubt be a great first opponent for either Alexander or Mustafa Ali. A win over Kalisto was a great way to make him look like a more legitimate threat on the brand as well, given how well established Kalisto is.

This was a really entertaining encounter and one that continues 205 Live’s recent trend of thrilling main event matches. The match even received a standing ovation from the live audience, and while, in my opinion, it didn’t reach the heights of some of the tournament matches, the audience’s reaction is a fine testament to how far the brand has come.

Drake Maverick Addresses WrestleMania

After the match, we saw an impassioned video from Drake Maverick, encouraging fans to make sure they get to WrestleMania early to make sure they have time to witness the Cruiserweight Championship match. Maverick doesn’t just do a great job of putting over 205 Live here, he did an excellent job of selling the event as a whole. Maverick has been an excellent appointment so far, and his promos and mic work have really added to the brand.

On the whole, this was a great go-home show for 205 Live. The show built suitable hype for the Cruiserweight Championship match at WrestleMania, and it also continued to establish plenty of feuds for after the event. Next week’s show we will see Drew Gulak Vs Mark Andrews, and no doubt, some sort of confrontation between the new champ and Buddy Murphy. The future is looking bright for 205 Live.
