2. Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Shane McMahon, Daniel Bryan Segment
The six-plus month saga between Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and SmackDown’s authority figures will finally have a payoff when a huge tag team match at WrestleMania 34 takes place. Owens and Zayn will battle Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon and if Owens and Zayn win, they will be rehired on SmackDown.
But if they lose, they will remain fired from the blue brand. Owens and Zayn have wreaked havoc over the past several months and as last night proved, even when they’re kayfabe fired, they can still wreak havoc of sorts. Towards the end of the show, Owens and Zayn came through the crowd and climbed on an announce table to cut a promo regarding their opponents at WrestleMania 34.
The duo mentioned Bryan’s family and how they’re sorry how they will send Bryan back to his family. Their ranting and raving continued with Bryan and Shane O’Mac looking on backstage before they came out and addressed Owens and Zayn by cutting off their mics and sending a message to them.
As Owens and Zayn were leaving through the crowd, Shane and Bryan fired back at them and said how this was a historic moment given how it will be the last time they will be on SmackDown after they lose to Bryan and Shane O’Mac at WrestleMania 34. It was a quicker segment, but it really hit the mark as a whole, especially compared to the opening segment of the night between the blue brand’s authority figures.
It will be a big night for every individual in this match at WrestleMania 34, and this segment helped send it off to New Orleans the right way.
