SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The Usos (c) vs. The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers
Result: The Bludgeon Brothers defeated The New Day via pinfall to become NEW SmackDown Tag Team Champions
Rating: 2.75 out of 5 stars
First things first: WHY HAS NO ONE TOLD ME THAT PLAYING THE DRAGONZORD THEME ON A TROMBONE BRINGS OUT PANCAKES? All these years I’ve had a trombone handy, and never thought I could get a meal by playing a beloved snippet from a 90s TV show.
Once the flapjack festivities were done, the match went much the same way for the Usos and New Day as Fastlane. That was where Harper and Rowan annihilated everyone, robbing the WWE Universe of a finish to another great match between the longtime rivals. The Bludgeon Brothers just threw their weight around, taking out everyone again – including Xavier Woods, not a participant in the match.
The plan for the Usos and New Day seemed to be isolate and dominate the Bludgeon Brothers. It wasn’t super effective, though; at every turn, the monstrous duo brushed off the offensive onslaught. There were brief flashes where it looked like the Usos, especially, might have a chance, but this ultimately turned into a lengthy squash match.
I like Harper and Rowan, but again – not a fan of a triple threat ending with the winners not actually defeating the champions. I also don’t know how long Harper and Rowan can continue utterly dominating everything in their path. They just defeated the only two other tag teams worth a damn on SmackDown handily. Unless the Authors of Pain are showing up on Tuesday night, there’s nothing standing in the way of a Bludgeon Brothers title reign lasting into the next decade.
