Report: Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair Planned As WrestleMania 35 Main Event

Perhaps no two wrestlers stood out more during WWE WrestleMania 34 than Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. The former proved unequivocally that she belongs as a WWE Superstar, while the latter proved unequivocally that she is “The Queen” of WWE. Per a recent report, the two are headed for a collision course at the next WrestleMania.

When Ronda Rousey first came into WWE and made her debut after the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble, fans were worried that she would be taking the spotlight from more deserving female wrestlers who have been a part of the wrestling business for longer. At WrestleMania 34, it was made abundantly clear that Rousey has worked her tail off and is a natural at this. She isn’t taking a spot from anyone else, because she’s earned the spot and will indeed elevate the other women.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair knows a thing or two about making the other women she’s in the ring with look like a million bucks. Sure, there may be a handful of better female wrestlers, but there’s also no doubt that Charlotte is among the best of the best. She ended Asuka’s heralded undefeated streak at WrestleMania 34, confirming her standing with the company.

According to PWStream, Charlotte and Rousey are currently planned to face off against each other at WrestleMania 35 in what would likely be one of the most anticipated matches in the history of the event. And as such, Rousey and Charlotte would also be expected to be in the main event, making history as the first women to do so.

We all know that plans can change. They often do. But I hope Charlotte vs. Rousey is indeed the main event of WrestleMania 35, because the suspense would make this a classic. Presumably, Rousey will be undefeated heading into next year’s ‘Mania, which would raise the question, can Charlotte do the same thing to Rousey that she did to Asuka the previous year?

Rousey looked like a million bucks at WM 34, and we know how good Charlotte is in the ring. At that point in time next year, both will be even better, and that especially goes for Ronda. The match itself would be worthy of the WrestleMania main event both in terms of hype and quality, with a natural story to boot.

Moreover, it would garner plenty of mainstream attention. Charlotte has name recognition beyond even just her family name, because she did appear in the Psych movie and frequently does media interviews. But, of course, Rousey is the big draw, and the media coverage for the first ever women’s WrestleMania main event involving one of the Horsewomen of MMA vs. one of the Horsewomen of WWE would be huge for the company.

Again, plans change, but I would be ecstatic if this were the long-term play for both of these two fantastic superstars.
