Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas

Following his defeat to Aleister Black at NXT Takeover: New Orleans, there is very little left for Almas to achieve down at Full Sail University.

Almas’ rise to the top of NXT was seemingly apropos of nothing. He was placed in a main event match with Drew McIntyre back in November that most fans had him pegged to lose. Of course, he went on to win that match, and he has been defying his critics ever since.

Vegas and his manager, Zelina Vaga have become one of the best acts on NXT television, and with the main event scene conquered in NXT, surely it is only a matter of time before they find themselves on either Raw or SmackDown.

Would Almas achieve the same success on the main roster than he did down in NXT? It seems highly unlikely that he wouldn’t. The former NJPW star has been having match of the year candidate after match of the year candidate in 2018, and his character work has massively improved since he partnered with Vega.

As cynical as it may sound, the WWE is currently without a Hispanic star as well, and Almas is a much better option than someone like Alberto Del Rio. Plus, he is only 28 years old (seriously!?) which means he is a very smart investment for the future of the company. Almas has world champion written all over him, and that rise to the top begins with his call-up.
