Drew McIntyre

The prodigal son returns. Drew McIntyre seemed destined for big things when he first arrived in the WWE over a decade ago, but bad booking and a string of defeats saw him drift down the card, ending up as part of 3MB with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater before finally being released in 2014.
After wrestling on the independent scene for three years, and re-establishing himself as one of the hottest acts in the industry, McIntyre resigned with the WWE in 2017, and won the title within months of returning.

Unfortunately, McIntyre picked up an injury following his defeat to Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas back in November. He has not been seen on TV since, and while a return to NXT would be great, it makes much more sense for him to make his return on the main roster.

Even for fans who don’t watch NXT, McIntyre is a recognisable name, and he could easily be entered into an upper mid-card feud on either brand. Not many people get a second chance to make it in the WWE, but McIntyre’s comeback story looks as though it is destined to have a happy ending.

McIntyre has made it clear on the NXT Takeover: New Orleans panel, that when he returns to the ring he would be going after Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas, the man who cost him his title and put on him on the sidelines, which does mean the company have a ready-made feud for both men, if they decide to use their NXT history as motivation on the main roster.
