WWE Raw: What Lies Ahead For Drew McIntyre?

Drew McIntyre made his return to main roster on WWE Raw this week. The once Chosen One seems poised to achieve greatness this time around.

WWE Raw hosted the ongoing Superstar Shake-Up this week which will continue into SmackDown Live tomorrow. One of the roster trades that happened was the arrival of Dolph Ziggler, a proven veteran in the business these days to Monday night Raw. Ziggler didn’t come alone though. He brought in someone who will grow bigger than the Show-Off eventually.

Drew McIntyre returned to the main roster, in what could be termed as his journey to redemption. After falling from the midst of an enviable push in the form of the Chosen One, to the bottom of the card as a member of 3MB, McIntyre is finally back to claim what he deserves. After travelling around the world, he has now returned as a bigger star than he ever was. The fans in attendance cheered him on with chants of ‘McIntyre’ and ‘Holy S***’.

He is paired with Dolph Ziggler as of now but it might be a short-term arrangement. McIntyre is certainly more over than Ziggler at this point and if anything, this might eventually end up in a program between these two men. Ziggler has sort of played the gatekeeper role on the main roster with both Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode. It’s nice to see him doing something fresh for once.

Personally, I felt like this has now completed Dolph’s evolution into a modern-day Shawn Michaels. HBK had Diesel with him to watch his back. Dolph now has McIntyre. However, McIntyre will soon break away as the bigger star. A short run alongside Ziggler as a tag team seems to be in order. This might even spread out into some singles action for Ziggler as this isn’t the first time he has had someone to cover his back and assist him.

Remember the days when Big E ‘Langston’ accompanied Ziggler to the ring? The same might be the case for a short while with McIntyre as well. At some point though, these two men are bound to mix it up. Undoubtedly, they will tear the house down when it happens and from there Drew McIntyre will break the glass ceiling once and for all to reclaim his spot at the top of the card.

It will also be nice to see McIntyre eventually mix it up with his former partner from 3MB, Jinder Mahal. Seeing as both men are heels at the moment, it will be a while. But it’s a feud well worth visiting, when the time comes to put him over as a face. Of all the roster trades that happened on Monday and all the NXT call-ups that happened since WrestleMania, Drew McIntyre’s arrival on the main roster is the biggest one.

The future looks bright for him as he attempts to scale new heights alongside Dolph Ziggler.
