WWE Superstar Shakeup 2018: Jeff Hardy Should go to SmackDown

This week, Raw started with a bang when Jeff Hardy defeated Jinder Mahal for the WWE US title to open the show.

Hardy’s championship victory seemed to come out of nowhere as Mahal had just become US champion earlier this month at WrestleMania 34. Jinder was also a member of the SmackDown roster and the first to be announced as a new member of Raw during the Superstar Shakeup.

With his US title win, Jeff Hardy became a WWE Grand Slam champion and seems to be as popular with the fans as ever before.

Now that Jeff’s brother, WOKEN Matt Hardy, is teaming with Bray Wyatt it makes perfect sense to distance Jeff from the two of them and do his own thing for a while.

There are a lot of people that will read this and say: “We want Brother Nero!”

Well, I want Brother Nero, too, and he can still interact with the “WOKEN Universe” every now and then.

There’s just too much money to be made by WWE in having Jeff Hardy being himself.

In addition to Jeff needing some space from Matt & Bray, it doesn’t make sense to have the US and IC titles both on the same brand.

It does, however, make perfect sense to move Jeff Hardy over to SmackDown.

There is a whole roster full of fresh matchups to be had for the “Charismatic Enigma” and Jeff honestly looks as good as he ever has in the ring. A move to SmackDown is the platform that Jeff needs to help re-launch him back into main event status as a singles performer.

I’d like to see Jeff have a long US title reign on SmackDown. Maybe he can finally be the one to bring the US Title Open Challenge back to prominence. Maybe we can also see some classic Jeff Hardy ladder match moments with the US belt hanging above the ring.

Jeff could eventually drop the title to a young, deserving talent that could benefit by getting the “rub” from the younger Hardy brother. After losing the US title and helping to put over some up-and-coming Superstars I’d like to see Jeff have at least one more run as WWE champion.

Hardy still possesses a connection with the WWE Universe unlike any performer I’ve ever seen. The fans want to see Jeff succeed now as much as they ever have before.

We all know of the trials and tribulations that Jeff has dealt with in his career from both a personal and professional standpoint. He has had some less-than-flattering moments in both WWE as well as his time in TNA.

If this ends up being Hardy’s last real run in WWE, I want to see him go out on top.
