Raw Could Use A New Heel

Samoa Joe has moved over to SmackDown Live, and while Jason Jordan figures to return, Raw is in need of another heel in either of its title scenes. The Miz left to SmackDown Live along with Joe, so Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens appear to be the only heels with Reigns, Rollins, Balor, Lashley, and Strowman as the man babyfaces. Ambrose could shake things up by returning as a heel, but I think the WWE would prefer to slowly turn him heel as he’ll likely get plenty of cheers during his initial return from an injury.

As such, Raw needs a heel right now. Jason Jordan should be ready to return to action soon enough, but despite how entertaining he is, he isn’t as big of a deal as Roode is. Roode can believably feud with any of the babyfaces on the roster (barring Strowman, perhaps), and, again, he’d be a fixture in the Intercontinental Championship picture.

Raw has its babyfaces set going forward, and I don’t see Roode entering that equation. Alongside Rollins, Balor, Lashley, and Strowman, Roode was by far the least over of these men.

The fans don’t care about him as a babyface, they don’t have a reason to care for him as a babyface, and he’d just get lost in the shuffle on the same show as these men. But as a heel, Roode can antagonize these faces and become just as popular as they are once he gets a chance to showcase the character that suits him best.
