Josh Matthews Makes Petey Williams Go Through Him First

Josh Matthews has taken offense Petey Williams getting involved with Matt Sydal’s business.  Williams costed Matthews the Impact Grand Championship a few weeks ago.  Now, Williams is set to challenge Matthews’ protege, Matt Sydal for the X-Division Championship.  Josh Matthews takes some time to stretch at the beginning of this match.

Matthews goes for the stick and move psychological approach.  It seems like more of a run and wait type of strategy early in the match.  I am still not sure what the point of the Josh Matthews’ spiritual adviser story line is at the moment.  Sydal jumps on the apron to cause the distraction and Matthews tries to jump the Canadian Destroyer from behind.

He goes into retreat mode but eventually would find a small amount of offensive momentum.  Matthews goes for a Canadian Destroyer but Williams knows how to reverse his own finisher.  Williams attempts a sharpshooter but Sydal gets involved, running into his protege.  This match ends in a disqualification after Sydal physically stops the Canadian Destroyer with a high arching kick.  Sydal and Matthews would leave Williams laying after the two attack him.
