2. Nikki Cross
On Tuesday night’s SmackDown Live, it was announced that Eric Young, Killian Dane, and Alexander Wolfe, three of the four members that make up the stable SAnitY, were announced as three of the newest members to the blue brand’s roster. However, the groups fourth member, Nikki Cross, apparently did not make the jump with her group. This may have been a blessing in disguise as now Cross is left to make a mark on her own outside of the shadow of her larger than life stablemates.
Not that Cross hasn’t had her chances as a singles wrestler on NXT in the past. In fact, she wrestled for the NXT Women’s title in two fatal 4-ways and a triple threat match at TakeOver shows, coming up short each time. And she even battled Asuka in the first ever Last Woman Standing match for the title in June of last year, a match that was undoubtedly one of the best of 2017. Now with the majority of the road blocks out of her way that stopped her in the past, namely Asuka and Moon, Cross has a clear path back to the championship.
Like Sane, Cross has a lengthy pre-WWE resume as well. A near 10 year veteran of the sport, Cross has competed in over 60 pro wrestling organizations spanning ten countries and four continents. Yeah, she’s been around the block. She’s wrestled more than triple the amount of matches that Baszler has in their respective careers and at only 28 years-old would still bring a veteran presence to the title scene.
A Cross/Baszler pairing could prove very interesting. Shayna, a bruiser who takes clear joy in torturing her opponents against Nikki, a borderline masochist could prove to be a massively violent affair. Cross has been to the big dance a few times already, but she deserves another crack. And if Baszler could get win, it would be yet another notch in her rapidly growing belt.
