ROH Wrestling: LIJ vs. Bullet Club Announced For War of the Worlds

ROH has announced a big ten man tag main event for the War of the Worlds Tour. The Bullet Club vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon will close the show.

There are a lot of questions that arise out of this match up, but it will be sure to entertain. Los Ingobernables de Japon and The Bullet Club are two of the biggest and most influential stables in wrestling today. Even with the troubles within Bullet Club, you can be sure that all ten men will show up ready to tear the house down.

Is Bullet Club Fine?

A question lingers over this match up. The Bullet Club has been left in tatters after Cody successfully defeated Kenny Omega at Supercard of Honor. Cody, trying to lead the broken Bullet Club, has been recruiting. As seen in the recent NJPW Road to Wrestling Dontaku shows, Cody is bringing back Bone Soldier. This isn’t exactly a sign of strong leadership. Cody’s failure in his quest to oust Kenny Omega from leadership has been poetically captured in the last scenes of Being the Elite Episode 100, with Cody being left in an empty room, with no one to share in his spoils of victory. Will they be able to recover enough to defeat LIJ?

Tranquilo in Difficulties

Los Ingobernables de Japon, who have run roughshod all over NJPW since it’s formation in 2015, has had their own struggles of late.

Tetsuya Naito was defeated at Wrestle Kingdom by Kazuchika Okada, and also failed in his quest to win the New Japan Cup. Naito is poised to have a very difficult match with Minoru Suzuki on April 29, and one must wonder, how will Naito look during this upcoming show?

The same can be said for the other members of LIJ who have had difficult run ins with Suzuki-gun. So far, none of them have been able to handle Suzuki’s group of mercenaries. However, as a conversation with a friend about this very match pointed out, LIJ remains a brotherhood. All 5 members are unified in the midst of their struggles.

We are both in agreement that LIJ winning makes the most sense. Unlike Bullet Club, LIJ does indeed seem fine. While they are struggling to win, they are totally carrying each other through it. Last night, we saw Naito roll into the ring to keep Minoru Suzuki from targeting Hiromu Takahashi further, showing leadership and love for his LIJ brethren.

Naito’s strong leadership might make the difference in this match. The storytelling direction seems to indicate that LIJ should win. However, maybe Bullet Club will really turn out to be fine. The biggest question remains: The shadow of Kenny Omega lurks in the background, leaving us wondering if he can be the unifying force that Bullet Club needs. Regardless, this shall be quite the interesting match to see. ROH and NJPW are creating intriguing stories here, and it’s an absolute delight.
