WWE Raw Power Rankings: Braun Strowman Flattens Competition
By Bryan Heaton
16. Baron Corbin
The Lone Wolf didn’t bother to actually participate in his scheduled match this week. Can’t blame him, since his opponent, No Way Jose, showed up with an army of supporters. Why would Corbin risk the odd-man attack?
He’s not the best talker in the world, but Corbin did a decent job of laying out his intentions for Raw. And after he feigned leaving the ringside area, he launched his own attack on a vulnerable Jose. Score one for Corbin, but knock a few points off for not actually competing when he had the opportunity to do so.
15. Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt
The sort-of comedy act that’s also sort of serious is a weird thing to try and rank. It’s not serious enough to treat it seriously, but it’s not light-hearted enough to dismiss as a comedy angle. The tandem offense on the Twist of Fate is good, but not the best team move out there. And a better one on the same show knocks things down a peg.
The backstage skit also hurts Hardy and Wyatt’s ranking. The mistiming on the lights going out, Hardy’s ridiculous reaction to the same, and the general absurdity of it all makes it really tough to take seriously, even as a comedy gimmick. But given the likelihood of the pair winning the Raw Tag Team Titles on Friday, things should pick up (and maybe the Authors of Pain get back on the show after the Greatest Royal Rumble).
