WWE Raw Power Rankings: Braun Strowman Flattens Competition
By Bryan Heaton
14. Chad Gable
Joining the Raw roster after the Superstar Shake-up, Chad Gable is in a unique position to reinvent himself alongside the tag team partner he made his name with and was separated from for no clear reason. That’s wrestling!
But Gable had a really good showing in his debut Raw match, defeating Jinder Mahal after getting annihilated for 12 of the 13 minutes the match lasted. He can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’ — which bodes well for his time on Raw. He’s a perfect undersized babyface, and by absorbing the punishment from his larger opponents, he immediately wins over the crowd.
(When he finally breaks out the Chaos Theory rolling German suplex on Raw, hoo boy, will the crowd go crazy.)
13. Finn Balor
Balor is kind of in the Owens and Zayn position of “not really seriously challenging for a championship at the moment.” I’m fully aware he’s got a shot at the Intercontinental Championship coming up at the Greatest Royal Rumble, but after that he’s got to wait a whole cycle before getting back into that scene. The Miz has his singles rematch at Backlash, pushing Balor out of the running until at least June. What does he do until then, especially without Gallows and Anderson?
Maybe Balor surprises me, and gets involved somehow with the Universal Championship since he never actually got his rematch for the title. Or maybe he just strings together a run of great matches to wow the crowd. Either way, he’s in no-man’s land for a few weeks, so he can’t really be too high on the list.
