Pro-Wrestling EVE: #SHEVolution Show Offered Something Special For Every Fan

CHARLIE MORGAN VS KILLER KELLY
Harmony: Before the match begins, it’s promo time for Charlie’s Wrestle Queendom opponent, Sammi Jayne. Sammi has been holding the EVE title for nearly a year now, and while she’s come close to losing it a few times, she’s been happy to do whatever underhanded thing she has to do to keep it in her possession. (She’s also a great wrestler, which is why she’s currently representing EVE at Sendai Girls. They don’t send you to wrestle Meiko Satomura if you don’t know what you’re doing.) EVE has done a great job building her up as a monster heel, and whoever finally gets the title off of her will probably get the biggest pop in the history of EVE.
Sammi makes fun of Charlie for being injured and having a child, because Sammi is good at her job and knows what’s up. Sammi says that Charlie isn’t on her level and can’t beat her at Wrestle Queendom.
Fearless Charlie Morgan takes the ring to mean-mug Sammi and call her out for engineering an attack on her. Charlie then tells Sammi to f**k off so the proper match can start. Charlie is a wrestler of few words, and I respect that.
Finally Killer Kelly comes out and the match begins. Kelly spends a lot of time dragging Charlie down to the mat and twisting her up like a pretzel, which is very impressive.
Charlie is no slouch in this match, though. She gets in a quick technical sequence, including some really painful looking chops, an insane surfboard hold and an awesome tornado thing off the top ropes. If the point of the match is to show that Charlie has the technical skills to pose Sammi a real threat, mission accomplished.
Kelly and Charlie trade momentum back and forth- Kelly gets in a great drop kick and some awesome looking suplexes -but ultimately Kelly overestimates herself by going for a brainbuster on Charlie. Charlie counters it and rolls her up for a quick pin.
In the end they hugged in the ring and Charlie encouraged the crowd to cheer for Kelly on her way out, which was nice. Charlie showed the resilience and skill she’ll be needing at Wrestle Queendom. Next weekend, Sammi had better be on her A-game if she’s going to retain that title.
Joe: Honestly, I’d put this match up there with anything I’ve watched this month. It was tremendous, and it was the match of the night, in my not-always-humble opinion. Killer Kelly and Charlie Morgan work so well in the ring together, and even though all logic pointed towards Morgan winning to build her up as Sammi Jayne’s challenger at WrestleQueendom, I still had no idea who would win during the match. So bravo.
My favorite spot was probably when Kelly hit Morgan with a bridging suplex, and Morgan’s foot was on the rope as she was rolled up by Kelly. There were so many cool moments in this match, including both surfboard holds. The finish to this match was among the best I’ve seen this year, and that’s no exaggeration. Do yourself a favor and watch this bout. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll see exactly why Morgan is dubbed the “Ace of EVE”.
