WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins has a title defense coming up against The Miz at WWE Backlash 2018. This is why he should win.

After retaining his Intercontinental Championship at The Greatest Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins must defend the gold again against former champion The Miz at WWE Backlash 2018. Rollins, of course, won the title in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 34 after he caved Miz’s head into the canvas with his Curb-Stomp finisher (simply called “The Stomp” by WWE). As the former titleholder, Miz invoked his rematch clause (a lazy wrestling trope that I don’t care for), hence why this match is taking place.

Although I envisioned the WrestleMania triple threat ending another way, I thought that putting the IC title on “The Architect” was a good idea. He’s a great wrestler, is good at cutting promos and he comes across as a star. Those are vital prerequisites for holding a championship in any wrestling promotion, not just WWE.

Rollins has steadily built up momentum since his marathon performance in the memorable gauntlet match on the RAW before Elimination Chamber. Since then, he has exuded the confidence of an elite-level competitor that belongs near the top of the card. While he may never usurp Roman Reigns as the top babyface in the company (unless something changes), he can be a reliable 1-A or 1-B option.

There is no reason why Rollins should lose the IC Title to Miz at Backlash. I can think of many reasons why, but I will limit them down to three.
