4: Aleister Black
Aleister Black’s match and victory over former NXT champion Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas was almost overshadowed by the show’s excellent opening and closing matches. Black’s match with Almas would have stolen the show on any other card, and you have to feel for the bout having to share a card with two matches which received 5 stars from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Who knows though, Black could be on course for his first ever five-star outing as he heads towards an inevitable encounter with match of the year machine Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa at the next Takeover event. His program with them began on the March 18th edition of the show, but his scheduled match with Johnny Gargano one week later had to be delayed, leading to Black defeating Eric Young instead.
Black has really developed as a character in recent months, and his NXT title victory indicates that the company clear have faith in him going forward. Black is one of the most consistent performers in NXT right now, and the belt is in safe hands as long he is holding it.

3: Adam Cole
Adam Cole, Bay-Bay! Adam Cole has had his finest month as a member of the NXT roster in April. His North American Championship victory at NXT Takeover: New Orleans was a crowning moment for the former Bullet Club member, and the fact that he then went on to retain the tag-team titles in the night’s third match is a testament to the guy’s work rate and talent.
Cole seemingly stalled a little bit in February and March, but he has come along leaps and bounds this month. His recent promo work on the April 25th episode of the show was fantastic, as he came out and addressed the crowd as the leader of the most dominant heel stable in NXT. He later went on to pick up an impressive victory over Oney Lorcan, in what looked to be the start of a program between The Undisputed Era and the team of Lorcan and Burch.
