WWE Raw: Is Bray Wyatt Controlling Woken Matt Hardy?

On WWE Raw, Bray Wyatt has reincarnated and has teamed up with Woken Matt Hardy to form the Deleters of the Worlds. But I have a feeling Wyatt is actually controlling Hardy and not the other way around.

WWE Raw has been home to the Deleters of the Worlds for the past few weeks. The team comprises of Bray Wyatt, who was thrown into the Lake of Reincarnation by Hardy during their Ultimate Deletion match on Raw and the Woken One himself. Hardy and Wyatt are perfect for each other; whether they are fighting a common enemy or among themselves.

The duo began working together after Wyatt showed up at WrestleMania 34 to help Hardy win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale. They then began teaming up and it took then all the way to winning the Raw tag team titles this past week. The duo would show up in a backstage promo to celebrate the successful conclusion to their Expedition of Gold.

The promo was strange. I mean that not in a Woken manner. Of course you tend to speak of the Woke Universe and ‘strange’ is bound to be included in there. This was different. Hardy was his usual self. He showed us how Wyatt and him transcended boundaries and time itself to traverse through different historical events. Honestly I was chuckling through each image and was actually clamoring for more.

Then the Eater of the Worlds (or Consumer of Terrestrial Entities, whichever way you’d like to refer to him) showed up and the segment took a different tone. Wyatt was a serious and focused avatar here as he presented the titles they had obtained. He told the fans they are the light and the darkness. Hardy was found staring into all of this and the titles like a moth would to a burning lamp. Go back up and see the image on top once again if you would. Does it seem like Hardy is inherently attracted to Wyatt’s lamp by some force or connection?

Spooky isn’t it? Moreover, when Wyatt was thrown into the Lake of Reincarnation, this lamp is the only thing that survived. Hardy would recover the same and keep it with himself. What if the lamp is the real source of Sister Abigail’s powers. We’ve been told in the past it was the rocking chair that Orton burned up.

But let’s just conveniently forget that. What if Hardy is being controlled by Wyatt and Sister Abigail herself? It would also explain why Wyatt isn’t necessarily ‘reincarnated’ unlike Brother Nero who was a totally different avatar.

This would certainly be an intriguing narrative to take up. Wyatt would add a video on Twitter explaining how Abigail has been replaced by Samael – a being in existence since genesis. Creative now has more options to play with here.

Of course, creative needs to take up this angle really slowly and let it run its course organically. Slowly everyone could realize that Wyatt is the one pulling the strings behind Hardy and opposed to what the Woken One might be thinking, he really is being controlled by the darkness. The Deleters of the World could even look to grow their Woken Army at this point in time.

The Ascension seem like a good weird addition to this growing party. It would also give Konnor and Viktor something meaningful to do. Wyatt has already taken some steps in this direction by inviting the Miztourage to join them. If Wyatt’s real life brother Bo Dallas joins the family, am sure the fans would go nuts. If anything, it would be a smarter way to use two talented performers like Axel and Dallas. I would even name them Woaxel and Wo Dallas!

Eventually, at some point in time Hardy may or may not realize what has been going on. This might lead to a split in the Woken Army or a battle for leadership. At that point, creative can bring out another Ultimate Deletion to treat the fans to the creative extravaganza that only Hardy can bring to us. We might even see the return of Brother Nero who would then attempt to aid his brother to defeat Wyatt once and forever. Who knows, may be even Señor Benjamin would show up.

Whatever happens from this point on, whether Hardy and Wyatt stick together or split up, the decision to pair them up has already done its job. It did what a WWE title win couldn’t do for Wyatt. Woken Matt Hardy has finally gotten Bray Wyatt over on WWE Raw.

Of course, Wyatt is a star with many more years of mileage under him. He might eventually break out into yet another singles run. However, for the most part, Matt Hardy has saved his career by giving him and creative more options to play it. Now let’s just wait around to see what unfolds.
