WWE SmackDown Live: Could Rusev Day Be Coming To An End
By Dalton Quix
WWE hinted at the beloved team of Rusev and Aiden English splitting up in the near future.
Ever since coming together to celebrate Rusev Day for the first time when Rusev defeated Randy Orton in 9 seconds, Rusev and Aiden English have captured the hearts of the WWE Universe. Together, they were able to make every day Rusev Day.
However, despite their overwhelming crowd support and off the charts merch sales, Rusev and English have yet to get a substantial push after failing to capture the tag titles and the United States Championship. Oh, and they’re still being booked as heels even though they are one of the most over acts on every show.
So, after Rusev and English were literally and figuratively buried by The Undertaker at The Greatest Royal Rumble, Rusev and English planned to regroup on this episode of SmackDown Live. This time, Lana was with the duo, and she seems to have an idea as to what is holding them back.
Rather, she seems to have an idea as to WHO is holding them back. After English left, Lana pulled Rusev aside to address the problem, and she seemed to hint that Aiden English may be the one holding Rusev back from fulfilling his full potential.
If Lana is trying to split up Rusev and Aiden English, you may as well cancel Rusev Day all together because none of those days will be happy. If Rusev ends up turning on English, this would mean that Rusev will go back to his no nonsense brutal heel gimmick which I personally think is a mistake.

Rusev has shown so much personality and charisma ever since teaming with English and developing this Rusev Day schtick that it should lead to a natural and organic face turn for Rusev. The only reason why WWE would force Rusev to go back to this heelish gimmick is because they don’t like talent getting over on their own (as silly as that sounds).
It would be interesting to see how fans would react to this angle because Rusev is so beloved and English is a face simply through his association with Rusev. So, I wonder if fans would cheer English and boo Rusev if Rusev were to turn on his Rusev Day counterpart.
Hopefully, WWE is hinting at this potential breakup as a point of misdirection. I really, really, hope they are just messing with us and will throw us a curveball with a completely unexpected outcome to this angle.

Rusev and Aiden are literally money together, and their crowd support is like none other. If they want to do something different with this team, turn them face! Please don’t split up Rusev Day, but sadly, that seems to be the direction they are taking us.
