Big Cass Calls Out Daniel Bryan

Big Cass and Daniel Bryan are embroiled in a feud with a match set for Backlash this weekend, and Cass decided to call out Bryan with a promo. He “wasn’t scheduled for the show”, per the announcers, but he came out and started insulting Bryan’s looks and height.

Earlier that night, the announce team stated that Bryan wasn’t medically cleared after his record-breaking, 76-minute performance at the Greatest Royal Rumble, as the medical staff feared a chest infection. (Yeah, sure).

But while Cass was talking, Bryan’s music hit. Could it be?

Nope. It was just a “Gillberg” version of Daniel Bryan. Cass told this local talent to “soak it in” by bowing to the Montreal crowd, and then he beat the guy up. Needless to say, the crowd wasn’t too pleased by this.

WWE is going all in on Big Cass as one of SmackDown Live’s top heels, but these promos and segments have been boring and uncomfortable to watch. Still, the goal has been achieved. Cass has massive heat, even if this segment was a total dud and had those of us laughing for all the wrong reasons. And the rest of us weren’t laughing. We were cringing in embarrassment at a segment that had “Vince McMahon” written all over it.

Grade: F, if you didn’t watch this segment, consider yourself blessed. That said, it did meet its stated purpose, and that’s getting Cass as much heat as possible.
