Pro Wrestling Eve: Wrestle Queendom Preview

 PRO WRESTLING EVE CHAMPIONSHIP: SAMMII JAYNE VS CHARLIE MORGAN

Friends and fans, it’s the main event! This is the match that EVE fans have been waiting for. The championship is on the line, and two of EVE’s best talents will be competing for it. Who’s taking home the prize?

Sammii Jayne calls herself the “Main Event Empress”, and she is known for her arrogance inside and outside of the ring. She solidified herself as EVE’s top heel when she broke Rhia O’Reilly’s ankle in a no-DQ streetfight. Rhia won the match and retained the title, but the resulting damage to her ankle and leg forced Rhia to vacate the EVE Championship, leaving it up for grabs. Sammii eventually won the title in another no-DQ tournament match, and she’s been hanging on to it ever since. She’s defeated all challengers and attempts to dethrone her, even coming out victorious in what amounted to a fifteen-wrestler gauntlet match at the New Years Title Rumble.

Throughout her title reign she has proved she has the skills to back her arrogance up, and while most fans root passionately against her, her character work and incredible efforts in the ring have done a lot to build up excitement for this match.

Charlie Morgan, the “Ace of EVE”, is a great prospect for the title. She’s a badass face known for her acrobatics, strength, and fiery personality. She made a huge impact by winning last year’s SHE-1 tournament, defeating Meiko Satomura and Sammii Jayne (and sparking a bitter rivalry with Jayne).

She also made a huge impact in a different way by coming out as a lesbian in an in-ring promo last year, making her one of the few out-and-proud wrestlers whose sexual orientation is mentioned in the ring. This year she’s had a dominant streak in EVE, and the entire time she’s been calling Sammii out to demand her title shot. If anyone has the potential to take the title off of Sammii this Saturday, it’s Charlie.

Harmony: Look, Sammli is an incredible wrestler. Love her or hate her, you can’t deny she’s enormously skilled and has done a great job as EVE’s champ. That being said, the heels have held the floor for a long time at EVE, and a historical pay-per-view event is a great time for a shakeup. Sammi’s held the title for nearly a year, and Charlie has more than made the case for her title shot. I also think that growing positive LGBTQ representation in wrestling is important, and Charlie becoming an EVE champion would be a great, tangible example of their efforts to make professional wrestling a welcoming home for all fans, period. I think Sammi will put in an incredible fight but in the end Charlie is taking that title home, even if it’s by the skin of her teeth.

Joe:  Charlie Morgan is 1000% winning this. All the comments Sammii Jayne has made about Morgna, all of the pompous promos she and Jetta have pulled, and all of the work Morgan has put in as the “Ace” lately will come to a head in this main event match for the title. Morgan will prove to be up to the task. She’ll turn aside interference, big move after big move, and out-wrestle Jayne to one of the most emotional victories of 2018.

I just can’t wait to see just how good the story will be when it plays out. EVE Pro Wrestling does an incredible job of building its heels, and I’m sure they’ll do an even better job of having Jayne’s reign come crumbling down at the hands of one of wrestling’s most underrated talents.
