3. Big Cass Needs Momentum Upon Return
While Big Cass’s whole “I don’t like short people” reasoning makes very little sense as to why he would want to start a feud with Daniel Bryan, he does have one legit reason for wanting to beat him to a pulp.
Daniel Bryan and Big Cass were cleared for competition on the very same day. Returning from injury is often a huge deal that really gets the crowd invested, but the crowd really only cared about one return, and it was Daniel Bryan’s.
Of course, with Daniel Bryan’s storied history in and out of the ring as the ultimate underdog in WWE, it is no surprise that everyone would gravitate towards Daniel Bryan’s return as a huge moment for WWE.
That being said, it left no one to care about Big Cass’s return to the ring. To be fair, though, there really wasn’t much to care about beforehand. He was stuck in a dead end feud with his former partner (which is no longer employed by WWE) and has yet to make a name for himself as a singles competitor.
So, while Daniel Bryan is the obvious favorite in this match, he already has a great reputation and the crowd support to the point where a loss here really wouldn’t hurt him. Meanwhile, a loss by Big Cass would send him right back to irrelevancy, and it would be difficult for him to pick up any kind of momentum moving forward.
Big Cass’s return and new career as a singles competitor is just beginning, and he needs a big win to get it started and headed in the right direction.
