2. Daniel Bryan Needs To Be An Underdog
Yes, Daniel Bryan is already wildly popular and has already proven himself to be worthy of world title and main event caliber matches, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we are going to get that right away.
I mean, not including his natural charisma and superior in ring talent, what was it that sparked the Yes! Movement? It was WWE constantly pushing Daniel Bryan down from his 18 second loss at ‘Mania all the way to Orton cashing in when he finally did reach the top.
This made the fans crave for an underdog like Daniel Bryan to finally overcome all of the odds of “The Man” holding him down, which led to his incredible moment at WrestleMania 30. If Daniel Bryan is just winning all the time upon his return, he loses that charm and could even get the “Super Cena” or “LOL Roman wins” treatment down the line.
Sure, victory after victory can help build momentum with a crowd for guys like Braun Strowman or Big Cass because they are just large dudes who are supposed to dominate. The smaller guys like Daniel Bryan aren’t supposed to succeed regularly, which means when they do, it becomes a huge moment for them and makes them huge stars.
So, Daniel Bryan is going to have to take a page out of Chad Gable’s playbook and scratch and claw his way back to the top of the mountain in WWE. He will have to overcome great odds and great adversaries, but first he has to fall to climb back up.
And one man may be the cause for Daniel Bryan’s early failures…
