Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas needs to make an instant impact when he does arrive on Tuesday nights, and going straight after the United States Champion is the perfect way to do that.
Hardy is the perfect face to play off against Almas’ heelish ways and having Almas defeat Hardy, and capture the United States within his first month on the main brand would instantly establish the former NXT champion as a big deal on the main roster.
Jeff Hardy is a great US title holder, but he really just feels like a placeholder at this stage in his career, as it seems unlikely his US title run will push him any further up the card. Almas, on the other hand, would excel as a brash and cocky champion, much like The Miz’s recent runs with the Intercontinental Title.
Putting all of this aside, the two men are both excellent performers in the ring, and a feud between the two would not only provide the Smackdown mid-card with some excellent matches but also provide Almas with the opportunity to show the WWE universe what he is capable of between the ropes.
Of course, Almas should come out of this feud undefeated. Having Hardy go over him here would be a massive waste, whereas Almas picking up victories over an established talent would see him off to a good start.
