Taiji Ishimori and Matt Sydal Revisit a Match of the Year Candidate

Matt Sydal won the X-Division Championship against Taiji Ishimori a few months ago.  It was at the top of the list for match of the year or at least close to Ishimori’s match with Trevor Lee in January.  These two have history and this set to blow the roof off the place again.  This match started off technical as the two feel each other out.

Ishimori took control early with his quickness then begins to methodically slow it down.  Sydal played defense as he began to attack the left leg of Ishimori.  The champion understood that he must take out the legs to hinder Ishimori’s signature 450 splash.  The initial attack doesn’t hurt too much as the adrenaline starts to pump.  With every move, it took a toll on Ishimori’s injured lower body.

Sydal was able to use his previous knowledge of Ishimori to regain control but at the same time the challenger was able to do the same.  The pendulum of this match continued to swing as it nears its end.  Ishimori tried to end it with a 450 splash but Sydal reversed with his inverted package piledriver.  Matt Sydal was victorious against Taiji Ishimori as he retained the X-Division Championship.
