EC3 Vs Raul Mendoza

Result: EC3 Wins with the One-Percenter

Grade: C

EC3 makes his way out to the ring and the crowd are hot for him. His ‘one-percenter’ entrance music is a little too on the nose for my liking, but that’s a minor complaint.  EC3 makes quick work of Mendoza here, picking up the victory in just under 3 minutes, with his new finisher- ‘the one-percenter’.

After the match, he is interviewed by Cathy Kelly. Kelly asks him about his defeat at Takeover: New Orleans and he simply says ‘who cares?’ and talks about how he is the biggest star in NXT.

EC3 came across great here. He brushed aside his debut loss like it was nothing and he looked polished in the ring. EC3 is perfectly primed for the main roster, and arguably, there is no need for him to be down in NXT at all- he has the look, the character and the in-ring skills down to a tee, and it’s not like he needs to learn the ‘WWE’ style. Regardless, this was entertaining viewing.

Pete Dunne Segment

Backstage, we see Pete Dunne being confronted by Oney Larcen and Danny Burch. Burch tells Dunne that they really don’t like him, but that they need to work together as a team to take on The Undisputed Era. Dunne shrugs and goes into his locker room. This was only a small segment, but it was a great way of establishing the partnership between the three guys. No-one had to change their characters and they basically just agreed to disagree for the sake of a common enemy. This was a nice and logical piece of booking.
