Cody Rhodes to Challenge for the NWA Worlds Title at All In
The All In 2018 press conference aired today, and a few things were announced that were quite interesting. A replay of the press conference can be found here.
One of which was that Cody Rhodes would be challenging for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at All In. Speculation about the NWA’s involvement with ROH started when Nick Aldis was seen at Supercard of Honor over WrestleMania weekend. The speculation only continued today when the NWA Twitter account tweeted out a picture of the letter N, which appeared to be a part of the “All In” logo.
This was followed up with other tweets of the letters of the NWA that culminated in Billy Corgan making an appearance at the All In press conference.
Corgan spoke about how wrestling is different now, and that All In is a bold step towards the future. In light of that, the NWA announced that they would be part of the show. Cody then announced that he would be challenging for the title, which got a wonderful reaction from the people attending the press conference.
This makes one match at All In a very interesting one, as Cody will challenge the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. The current champion, Nick Aldis, might not be champion by then, but he has been on a world tour as of late. Defending the title as far away as China, Aldis has been working very hard to bring prestige back to the title he took from Tim Storm.
Cody Rhodes, the Perfect NWA Champ?
This announcement upped my excitement for All In quite a bit. While the NWA is trying to rebuild its image, the title still carries a sense of importance. It seems appropriate that the title that Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair held is the one that Cody challenges for. Cody, looking to emulate and carry on the legacy of both Dusty and Flair, is the perfect challenger.

I would even argue that Cody Rhodes would be the perfect NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. The legacy of that championship almost seems to be tailor made for him. If Cody Rhodes holds the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, this could also strengthen a partnership between ROH and the NWA, which could be good for both parties.
Regardless, this announcement makes All In a show that must be seen, if it wasn’t already.
