Rey Mysterio Announced for All In and Continues Taking Indy Dates
The All In press conference featured the big announcement of Cody challenging for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, but it also featured the announcement of Rey Mysterio being involved.
Rey Mysterio has been the topic of much discussion of late with his appearance at The Greatest Royal Rumble bringing much speculation that he has resigned with WWE. However, Mysterio has been announced for NJPW Dominion, and now All In, showing that he doesn’t appear to be done his tour outside of WWE just yet.
While the announcement of the NWA being involved in All In is a big one, Rey Mysterio being involved is also huge. One of the most legendary high flying wrestlers of the last 25 years, Rey Mysterio has wrestled all over the world. Mysterio’s innovative offence brought attention to smaller wrestlers when size was considered to be the only thing that mattered.
Upon joining WWE in 2002, Rey Mysterio continued to build his legend, winning the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship multiple times. There is not question that Rey Mysterio is a living legend, and someone that adds a great element to any wrestling card. All In getting him for the show is a big deal, and it shows that independent wrestling is very hot right now.
Who Will Rey Mysterio Face?
There are several options that will be appealing for who Mysterio squares off against. Flip Gordon is an obvious choice for high flying action, but based on the press conference, Flip might have a match with Marty Scurll. The Young Bucks is another viable option if they could find a suitable tag team partner for Rey. It could be possible that Jushin Thunder Liger would make an appearance, and Rey Mysterio & Liger vs. The Young Bucks would be a fantastic match.
Of course, they could also go with Rey Mysterio vs. Will Ospreay, as that is a match that both men have said they wanted. If Ospreay is still the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion by the time All In comes around, a challenge for the title isn’t out of the question. It’s entirely possible that Rey’s performance at NJPW Dominion will be tied into who he faces at All In. Either way, I expect Rey will offer a significant boost to the show. All In is becoming a must see event.
