4. Did Mojo Rawley just deliver his breakout performance?
The Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins would issue an open challenge this week on Raw. While the concept isn’t something new, the end result is mostly exciting as you never know who would show up. I was expecting Jason Jordan would show up. But out came Mojo Rawley and I uttered a big sigh.
This was Rawley’s debut match on Monday nights and quite honestly, neither me nor the fans in attendance where excited about it. But Rowley took control pretty soon. To start with he had excellent heel mic work done from the ground up. When the crowd started chanting for their hometown hero Zack Ryder, Rawley had a witty comeback in response.
He then held his own in the ring as well. While most of that can be attributed to Rollins’s ability to tell a story in the ring, the match showed glimpses of Rowley’s untapped potential. He was aggressive and turned the heat on his heel performance. We had seen flashes of excellence in him when he first turned on Ryder. However, Rawley had lacked that one feud/opponent he can really sink his teeth into. Rollins was just that.
After all, when you go up against the hottest babyface on Monday nights, what else would you expect to happen? When the match was over, I was not longer not ‘hyped’ about seeing more of this kind of performance out of Mojo Rawley.
Was this his breakout performance?
