Asuka vs. Heel Charlotte Flair
What’s going on with Asuka? Since she lost at WrestleMania to Charlotte Flair, she hasn’t been making as many appearances. Obviously, without the streak, there isn’t much going for her in terms of storylines. However, there could be something brewing that involves Flair losing the Smackdown Women’s belt to Carmella.
This can start with where we are right now in the Tuesday night women’s division. Carmella took the belt from Flair in a cash-in, and Carmella even defended it clean against Flair. Because of her family legacy, this is frustrating to Flair. Let’s say she gets one more shot at Carmella at a show like Summerslam or even Money in the Bank, but she loses again. After the match, she snaps and attacks the champ, tearing her to pieces.
On the next Smackdown, Charlotte explains herself. She says she did it because it’s only fair. Carmella attacked her when she was at her weakest, so she was repaying the favor. The Empress of Tomorrow’s music hits, and she criticizes Charlotte for her actions. Asuka says she challenged Charlotte because of her status as a good champion. She was excited to come to Smackdown to have an opportunity to fight Charlotte again. But now, Asuka is disappointed in Charlotte.
Fast-forward to the end of 2018. Flair gets another shot at Carmella, she plays dirty, and she gets the belt. Asuka comes out again and tells Charlotte that she’s not the same person. She maybe even has a jab at her last name, asking what her father would think of what she’s doing. Charlotte turns fully heel, fighting dirty with every challenger. But finally, maybe even at WrestleMania 35, Asuka gets a rematch. It’s an all-out war, but Asuka beats the Queen, and finally gets retribution for her fellow superstars.

Moving Forward
Obviously, these aren’t the only ideas for what kinds of matches could take the place of what we’re getting now. But, these are the kinds of stories we could be watching if WWE was willing to write and push them. The company has plenty of ways to write themselves out of the corners they put themselves into, but they have to take initiative. But who knows? One or more of these feuds may be right around the corner.
