Impact Wrestling Starts the Road to Slammiversary with a Blend of Old and New

Thursday’s show started off with another heinous attack by Sami Callihan.  Callihan took out Don Callis at a House of Hardcore show where he was be recognized.  Josh Matthews informed fans that an ongoing meeting would continue to discuss the future of Callihan.  Impact officials reviewed all the actions of Callihan to see if he was fit to stay in Impact Wrestling.

A new tag team debuted in Impact Wrestling on Thursday.  DJ Z and Andrew Everett came together to form Z and E.  They would take on former Impact Tag Team Champions, the Latin American Xchange.  LAX hasn’t been themselves since Konnan was taken out a few weeks ago.  They looked to regain their momentum against the newly formed team.

After Taiji Ishimori was unsuccessful in his title match against Matt Sydal last week, a new number one contender needed to be crowned.  Ishimori got another chance as he faced El Hijo de Fantasma, Aerostar, and Drago for a shot at the X-Division Championship. This was set to be an aerial showcase given the competitors in this match.

Also on Thursday, Brian Cage continued his World Tour but this time in Japan in a match against Takashi Sugiura.  Grado made his return to Impact Wrestling with Katerina formerly known as Winter by his side.  Moose and Kongo Kong finally square off in House of Hardcore in what seemed to be just a preview of things to come.  Lastly, Eli Drake challenges Pentagon Jr. for the Impact Wrestling World Championship in the main event.
