2. Can Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal Feud Work?
The career of Roman Reigns has been as unpredictable as any superstar in a long time over the past few years. Just when it appeared like Reigns was destined to capture the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar, he now stands tall without the gold.
And over the past couple weeks, Reigns’ next feud has seemingly been discovered thanks to The Modern Day Maharaja. Jinder Mahal came over to the red brand in the superstar shakeup and immediately lost the United States Championship, but his improvement was still noticeable even in defeat.
Mahal cost Reigns a chance to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match last week and The Big Dog wanted revenge last night. He began the show after an in-ring segment with Kurt Angle by storming the backstage area to find Mahal. He found him and the two took it to each other with Reigns ultimately getting the advantage.
Turnabout’s fair play and Reigns’ attack of Mahal backstage, which culminated with a spear through a wall, cost Mahal a chance to qualify for Money in the Bank. The bigger question is can this feud work? Mahal has shown a lot of improvement, but even against a major heel of sorts, can Reigns get cheered as the babyface?
The two can make it work, but it could end up doing more harm than good if the WWE doesn’t handle it the right way.
