Wrestle Queendom was a historic night for women’s wrestling, but it was also an incredible show. So what happened and why was it so cool?

On May 5th, Pro Wrestling EVE made history by staging the largest women’s wrestling event ever in the history of Europe: WrestleQueendom. For years now, EVE has been working to revolutionize the way the world views women’s wrestling. They work to promote great talents, build incredible storylines and characters, and give us wrestling moments unlike things you will see at any other promotion. They also put their money where their mouth is when it comes to their values, enforcing an anti-sexist/racist/bodyshaming ethos that keeps shows enjoyable for performers and fans and advocating for feminism and progressive politics to have a place in the wrestling world.

Wrestle Queendom was arguably as much a statement of intent as it was a wrestling event: a livecast show that would debut the current incarnation of Pro Wrestling EVE to the world, and a gambit to show that this kind of promotion can find a significant audience in the increasingly fragmented indie wrestling marketplace.

So did it work?

According to the Pro Wrestling EVE fans here at Daily DDT, the answer is a resounding yes. Pro Wrestling EVE shows never disappoint, and Wrestle Queendom managed to truly have a little bit of something for everybody. It was an evening of incredible wrestling, awesome storytelling, and unforgettable moments. Whether you’re watching for the story or you’re just looking for your Match of the Year, you’ll find it at Wrestle Queendom. Go check it out on EVE On Demand, and read on to see why Wrestle Queendom lived up to the hype.
