Open challenges create an opportunity to introduce fans to an up and coming name to watch. John Cena did that with both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, setting them on a path in which have become two of the better characters on WWE television today. Imagine Seth Rollins doing the same for Dream on the organization’s flagship promotion.
Now, this isn’t an idea to call Dream up to the main roster, not at all. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Introducing Dream in a shocking way and allowing him to shine against Rollins creates intrigue as more people will want to know who he is. This gives commentators the opening to direct traffic back to WWE NXT, where Dream competes against a myriad of talented wrestlers who are set to be the next surge of stars on the main roster.
Dream has shown that he can put on very good matches. Look at his work with Alistair Black, Kassius Ohno and his developing feud with Ricochet. At only 23-years old, Dream is surprising many people and getting them hyped for what his future will bring to the industry. A clean loss to Rollins doesn’t hurt him much at this point in his career and it has the potential to draw some attention back to the NXT brand by those who only focus on the top two shows in WWE.
