Seth Rollins: 6 Surprise Opponents For IC Title Open Challenge

Now bear with me for this storyline, but these open challenges could be used as a way to open the door for a massive feud between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar.

This feud would start with Rollins successfully defending the title week after week and continuing to push the IC title as the “main” title of the show.  Opening a show with Rollins challenge being answered by Lesnar and Paul Heyman would immediately make this the most important feud in the promotion. Lesnar is still the Universal Champion and there’s no telling what the WWE is planning on doing with him next. Roman Reigns has already failed multiple times to capture that title and WWE fans have made it clear that they do not want him in the title picture at this time. Rollins run as champion was hampered due to injury and his run with the IC title has shown that he can be the central figure of the show.

The build to a match between Lesnar and Rollins could be stretched out until SummerSlam, where the two would be center stage for the main event. Rollins once held the US and WWE titles simultaneously and delivered as champion with both. He could easily do so with the IC and Universal titles, but he should certainly drop the IC title to create more opportunity for the wrestlers in the mid card section of the roster. But using that title and Rollins current run is the exact way to build him into the next opponent for Lesnar and potentially the man to take the title off of his waist.
