WWE Money in the Bank 2018 Match Card Predictions Version 2.0
Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Braun Strowman vs. Finn Balor vs. The Miz vs. Rusev vs. Bobby Roode vs. Kevin Owens vs. Xavier Woods vs. Samoa Joe
I’m sticking with Xavier Woods as my pick to represent The New Day in the Money in the Bank ladder match. While the smart money would be on the dominant Big E out there (and while I’d love to see him spearing fools in a ladder match), I think Xavier would be a fantastic surprise. His style seems to be built for ladder matches, and I wouldn’t be shocked if the actual members of The New Day pushed for Vince McMahon to let Woods compete in the big match.
As for the other open spot in the men’s ladder match, I believe Samoa Joe will defeat Daniel Bryan next week on SmackDown Live. I could see either Big Cass costing Bryan outright, or WWE simply telling a story where Joe is bigger and more rested than Bryan, who had to defeat Jeff Hardy in the main event of SmackDown last week to get a qualifying match against Joe.
Rusev and Joe are two real sleepers to win this match on SmackDown, and I’d also like to highlight Finn Balor and Kevin Owens as logical options on Raw. Owens is a slimy heel who has Stephanie McMahon’s full support, and it would be entertaining to see him and Zayn on a briefcase run. The jokes, friction, and general evilness would be a joy to watch.
Balor hasn’t received a Universal Title match since he was forced to relinquish the championship in 2016. Him winning the contract, cashing in on Brock Lesnar, and essentially taking matters into his own hands would be quite the story. It would also lead to some absolute dream matches on the main roster with him as Universal Championship, including several “renewed” rivalries.
But my pick remains The Miz. I just think he’s on another level as a performer right now, and that includes his in-ring work. Miz has always been an elite promo, and now his in-ring work is worth writing home about. My dream is for him to cash in on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, because the A-Lister is indeed a main event player.
