LAX (Santana and Ortiz) vs. Cult of Lee (Caleb Konley and Trevor Lee)

Now that DJZ and Andrew Everett are Impact World Tag Team Champions, both LAX and the Cult of Lee are angling for an opportunity to take those titles back. LAX look like the clear favorites here, but they seem to have lost their way since Konnan disappeared at Redemption. Can they prove they can still get it done after losing so many matches?

Cult of Lee starts with a clear-cut advantage after blindsiding Santana and Ortiz, but it doesn’t take long for the momentum to change while both tag teams are busy brawling on the outside. However, Caleb Konley slams Ortiz into the steel steps and Trevor Lee smashes Santana into the ring post, so the heels win back the advantage prior to the second commercial break of the night.

Konley and Lee continue to maintain an advantage over LAX, relentlessly punishing Ortiz and going for frequent covers. When Ortiz finally tags in Santana, Don Callis literally says “hot tag” (he’s got to stop doing stuff like that), and Santana just cleans house.

It looked like they were about to win with a double-team move, but Lee broke the pin up at the very last second from out of nowhere.

LAX went for another double-move, but just as Ortiz was about to come flying in, Lee grabbed his feet on the outside. That allowed Konley to go for a creative roll-up, grabbing the tights of Santana to pick up a dirty tag team win.

That’s yet another loss for LAX, who are out of the tag team title picture in the immediate future, and the frustrations will continue to mount for Santana and Ortiz.

Rating: C, this was an average match that had some great near-falls and an interesting finish, but the action felt disjointed. I thought Konley was off, and Santana and Ortiz are usually involved in much, much better matches than this one.
