WWE NXT: Results, Grades and Analysis for May 23rd

The pieces continued to fall into place on this week’s WWE NXT as the brand gets ever closer to Takeover: Chicago.

With WWE NXT’s next Takeover event just over three weeks away, the brand continued to build on the show’s big feuds this week, with several of the show’s key competitors coming face to face.

Firstly, the rivalry that has been brewing between Lacey Evans and Kairi Sane would come to a head as the two women went one on one in their continued battle for supremacy. Elsewhere, Velveteen Dream and Ricochet would make unlikely tag team partners as they take on Big Bad Lars Sullivan, with all three men hoping to get a shot at Aleister Black’s NXT title in Chicago.

The biggest moment of the night, though, is the much-anticipated return of Johnny Gargano to the ring. Gargano’s rivalry with Ciampa has been the best thing on NXT all year, and after Ciampa’s vicious attack on Gargano last month, fans have been waiting for a chance to see Johnny Wrestling get his revenge.  Ciampa has been taunting his opponent for weeks on social media, did he finally get his comeuppance on last night’s show?
