Lars Sullivan Vs Ricochet and Velveteen Dream

Result: Lars Sullivan Wins With The Freak Accident

Grade: B-

After Lars Sullivan attacked both Velveteen Dream and Ricochet during their match last week, the two men became unlikely bedfellows on this week’s episode in a bid to take down Big Bad Lars.

Handicap matches are often a nightmare in the WWE, it is extremely difficult to book one correctly and make sure everyone comes out the other end looking good.

Fortunately, the unique dynamic of this match meant that the three men in the ring were able to pull on a thoroughly entertaining bout. While it was pretty obvious from the moment this match was announced that Velveteen Dream was going to turn on Ricochet, they still allowed the match enough time to build towards it, and seeing the two men work together in the ring was highly entertaining.

The finish was well executed as well, with Ricochet hitting a blind-tag so that he could follow up Velveteen’s move, only for his partner to misinterpret the tag as an attempt to screw him, leading to Dream hitting a death valley driver on Ricochet.

The two men are now well on the path to a match with each other at NXT Takeover: Chicago, and based on what we’ve seen so far from the two, it could well steal the show. Sullivan looks to be moving on to a match with Aleister Black at the same event and given his performance here, I’m fine with that.
