EC3 Vs Fabian Aichner

Result: EC3 Wins with a Fireman’s Carry Neckbreaker

Grade: C

While this was basically a match to showcase EC3’s talent, and an excuse to get Johnny Gargano on television, both men got a chance to look good here, and while it was a squash in many respects, Aichner still managed to make the most of the small amount of time he was given.

Mid-way through the match, Johnny Gargano came down to the commentator’s table to present them with his signed contract for his street fight with Tommaso Ciampa at NXT Takeover: Chicago. The distraction allowed Aichner to rally a little before EC3 hit him with his finisher to pick up the victory.

My favourite thing about this was that it planted the idea of Gargano Vs EC3 in my head for some point in the future. Gargano is likely to be tied up with Ciampa for the next couple of months, but he would no doubt be able to get the best out of EC3 who, despite being a heel, still remains incredibly popular with the crowd.

As for Aichner, he still continues to be a glorified jobber, and with such a big roster, it is difficult to find somewhere to put him. Hopefully, they can find some way to let him show off his abilities in the coming months though.
