5 Superstars That Should Have Been In A Money In The Bank Match

3. Sami Zayn
Poor Sami. Instead of getting a chance at the Money in the Bank briefcase and potentially winning the Universal Championship for his first title on the main roster, he is in what could be the worst feud of 2018.
Sami was chosen to be Bobby Lashley’s foil for his first singles feud since his return, and it really could not have gone worse (so far). The interview about his sisters was incredibly cringeworthy, and Sami’s segment with Bobby’s “sisters” was absolutely laughable, and not in a good way. The apology for the segment the following week wasn’t much better, and I’m really dreading their match at Money in the Bank.
And to think we could have avoided all of this if we just decided to throw Sami into the Money in the Bank instead of Kevin Owens! I mean, it would have made sense. Kevin Owens already had a grueling Intercontinental Championship match that night, so when a spot opened up in the qualifying match, it should have been a fresh Sami to capitalize rather than Owens.
We’ve already seen Kevin Owens in top spots on both SmackDown and Raw. He’s held the Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, and even the Universal Championship. Sami Zayn has held, well, nothing.
Zayn qualifying for that match would have also been able to advance some storylines. Sami justified his heel turn by saying the “right way” of doing things has done nothing for him while “Kevin’s way” has led to success in WWE.
Well, Zayn still has the same amount of success following Kevin’s way. If he were to qualify using “Kevin’s way”, it would help justify his decision to turn heel rather than just looking like second fiddle to the Kevin Owens Show.
Also, it could lead to a jealous Kevin Owens that could worry that Sami is now better than him after deciding to do things his way. A briefcase could end up being a wedge in the already fragile relationship of Sami and Kevin.
Instead, the roles are reversed, which I guess is okay, but I definitely would have preferred to see Sami Zayn in the match instead of Kevin Owens.
