Curt Hawkins vs. James Harden
Result: James Harden defeated Curt Hawkins via disqualification
Rating: 1.25 out of 5 stars
I don’t know why tonight, of all nights, WWE decided to give time on Raw to Curt Hawkins. We’re less than two weeks away from Money in the Bank, Hawkins has absolutely zero momentum (not even from his losing streak; dude hasn’t had a match on Raw since January. Yes, being on a 199 match losing streak is somewhat noteworthy, but you can’t bring it up when convenient and ignore it at all other times.
But whatever, TACOS! Hawkins promises a taco to everyone in attendance if he can beat “James Harden,” which just goes to show that you can get a wrestling crowd interested in anything if the stakes are high enough. And for much of the match, it looks like Hawkins is about to put his losing streak behind him — as well he should against such an opponent.
Just as Curt is about to put away his opponent, out comes Constable Baron Corbin (more on that in a second). Even knowing how things were about to play out, it was great, I don’t care what anyone says. Corbin hits Harden with the End of Days, causing a disqualification, and Hawkins hits 0-200. Worse, no one gets tacos! Well, except Hawkins, who gets put through the taco table at ringside.
Backstage, Corbin reveals he’s been talking to Stephanie McMahon, and she’s instituting a “checks and balances” system to prevent Kurt Angle from making more questionable decisions. So Baron Corbin is her representative in her absence, and he’s the constable of WWE Raw. Please give him a uniform, or a hat, or a nightstick, or something.
